Researching Magazines

I decided to look at different kinds of magazines to get an idea of the layout and colour of the magazine.

The main thing I noticed with these magazines is that the masthead is the top third of the magazine. The font of the masthead is colourful and bold and it stands out.

The layout of both these magazines are very similar. The text of headings in both magazines are mainly on the left hand side on the cover. The colour of these headings are either the same or have similar tones of colour.

The photograph is placed in the centre of the cover which takes up the majority of the actual magazine and cover but also the text that is on the cover is placed in front of the image

When researching the layout of magazines, I noticed that the colours that are opposite each other the colour wheel go together eg. Yellow and purple. Also different tones of the same sort of colour also goes together but realistically the opposites of the colour wheel compliments each other and make the cover stand out.
