Secondary Research - Design Inspiration

I created a mood board for my design of my music magazine.
I used secondary research such as images from google images and Tumblr.
I decided to do my mood board on A3 black card because it meant that I could lay out the images and my annotation the way I wanted to lay them out.
I used various of images such as quotes to show the fonts and size, pictures to show colour, setting and light and also I used models/artists to show how I want my artists to dress like and pose like for my music magazine.

Primary Research - Audience Profile

This is my Audience Profile/Reader Profile for my Music Magazine.
I included the images of what my target audience are into such as social networking sites they visit and what shops they shop at.
I also included a reader profile that shows what my typical reader who would read my magazine would be like.
By including a audience profile it gives me good indication of how my magazine is going to go. It shows what I need to include to attract the audience but it brings me a step closer into being able to develop my magazine. It shows that I need to include a lot of social networking sites as a lot of people ages 16-25 year old use a lot sites such as Twitter, Instagram, YouTube and Facebook which means that the magazine needs to play some part in the social networking business to be direct with the target audience.

Music Magazine Survey Results

These are the results for the survey that I sent out to 16-25 year olds. From looking at these results it shows what to include in the magazine to attract this audience. It also shows what gender is most likely read this magazine which is female so it suggests to me that I need to aim this magazine at more females but it is optional. It also shows what I can develop on and what to to write about in the contents page and double page spread.
From these results from the survey, it means I can start planning and developing my music magazine because I now know what I need to work on and aim for as I have the information gathered up with what should definitely be included to attract this audience to read my music magazine.

Music Magazine Survey

These is the first step to get an idea of what my magazine is going to look and what it will include inside. I created a survey on SurveyMonkey.
I asked questions such as "What sort of music do you listen to?" and "do you enjoy going to concerts/gigs?" because then I know what to include on the front cover such as artists and also it helps what to write about in my DPS and what sort of article titles to include on the contents page.
I did not include an age for my survey because purposely sent them to people who were ages 16-25 because that was the audience that I wanted to read my music magazine.

How Musicians and Bands Are Represented In Music Magazine

In this magazine, the musicians/band is Arctic Monkeys. The representation of Arctic Monkeys is influenced by many different factors.

One of the influences of Arctic Monkeys is the record label. The label would have an  influence on the way they act and what genre of music they perform. The label would have an influence on the way the band is represented by having the decision on they way they are styled for magazine shoots.

The stylist and photographer would have an influence on way Arctic Monkeys are represented. The stylist has an influence on the way Arctic Monkeys are represented because the clothing they are given to wear for shoots are made to relate in ways to their music. The clothes they wear are very dark and "Indie". The photographer also has an influence on the way Arctic Monkeys are represented because the photographer decides on the position they stand in on their photo shoot. The photographer also decide on the way they look eg. if they are smiling or looking very serious when they are having their photograph being taken for a magazine cover.

The manager of the band themselves have a huge influence on the representation of the band. The manager of the band have the decision on what they do such as the the music they perform, the gigs and concerts they play, the image they present themselves as which is a "Indie" look. The manager also influences the the representation that Arctic Monkeys has by the magazines they get put into such as "Q" which shows their genre of music because you would not see Arctic Monkeys in a pop magazine such as "Top Of The Pops" because their genre of music is Indie and not Pop.

The band themselves have influence of their representation because its them that make the band. The band themselves have a say in ways like ideas of the music they make and also have a say in the style of clothing and hair they would want.

The audience plays a big part in the bands representation. This is because the band needs to make sure that their representation is appealing to the audience because the audience are the ones buying their songs and taking an interest in them. Bands such as Arctic Monkeys change their representations occasionally because they are trying to keep up with the audience by being how the audience wants them to be.
